DeKalb Central Schools Feedback Guide

DeKalb Central is pleased to offer students, staff, parents, and community members a convenient way to keep us informed about things that are going on in our schools though our Feedback Tool.  Below is information on how to access and use the Feedback Tool, as well as guidelines on what to expect once your feedback has been sent.

The Basics

The Feedback Tool can be accessed through the DeKalb County Central USD app, powered by Blackboard, available free of charge for iOS and Android devices.

Once you have downloaded and opened the app, you will need to swipe your screen to the left to see the icon for the Feedback Tool.  Click the Feedback Tool icon and acknowledge the automatic message stating, "Thank you for sharing productive feedback with DeKalb Central School."   From there, you can enter information about your feedback in the dialogue box provided.  You can also include a picture, if you wish.

Next, select a category for the given list:  District App Feedback, Express a Safety Concern, Recognize a DCCUSD Employee, Report Bullying Behavior, Share an Idea, Submit a School Event Picture, or Submit a School Event Video.  Then, you can enter information about your category in the dialogue box provided.  You can also include a picture, if you wish.

Then, select the school to which the feedback refers.  If you are submitting a general tip, or one that applies to multiple schools, please select DeKalb County Central USD.  Then enter your name, email, and phone number* (note that unless you choose to send your tip anonymously, you must either provide your phone number or e‐mail address or the tip cannot be submitted), and click “Submit.”  Note that if you send a tip anonymously, there is no way for a staff member to respond to you.

Once you have submitted your tip, you will receive a pop‐up message telling you the tip was sent successfully.

What Happens Next?

The tip will then be routed as an email to person or people who have been identified as the appropriate contact(s) for the location you identified.

Responses and response time will be determined by many factors: 

  • If you send feebdback anonymously there is no way for a staff member to respond to you.  That does not mean your feedback will not be acted upon, but it may make the process more difficult.  Therefore, we strongly suggest you provide your name and contact information so we can follow up with you, if need be. 

  • If you have included your contact information and have sent your feedback during normal business hours (approximately 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m), every effort will be made to acknowledge receipt of your feedback as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours.   Further follow‐up will be determined by the nature of the feedback.

    • Please note that certain subjects (i.e. student discipline) cannot be discussed with non‐family members.

Important Reminders 

  • The Feedback Tool simply provides one more method for students, staff, parents, and community members to share important information with us.  If you feel your feedback requires a more personal or immediate response, please visit the school in person or call the office to report the incident. 

  • Also, if your feedback might be better directed to an outside agency, please feel free to contact them directly:

    • Police/Fire/Medical Emergency – 911

    • Department of Human Services (Child Protective Services) – 260-925-2810

    • National Suicide Hotline – 1‐800‐273‐TALK

    • Poison Control – 1‐800‐222‐1222
